Manitoba is celebrating the 20th anniversary of its PNP

Manitoba celebrates the 20th anniversary of its provincial immigration program, according to which, since its founding in 1998, more than 130,000 immigrants have arrived. Manitoba was the first province to create a provincial immigration program, or MPNP, to select candidates for the province’s economic needs and priorities. Most Canadian provinces and territories have since followed the example of Manitoba and now have a provincial immigration program or PNP. The only province without PNP is Quebec, which has a separate immigration agreement with the federal government of Canada.

Since the creation of the MPNP in 1998, immigration has become the main driving force behind positive population growth.
