BC new entrepreneur immigration pilot in 2019

The British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program is launching a new immigration pilot program to attract immigrant entrepreneurs to less populated areas of the province.

The two-year pilot program, called Entrepreneur Immigration - Regional Pilot, is expected to open in early 2019. Through this pilot, BC PNP will collaborate with communities of less than 75,000 inhabitants.

The pilot is designed to help small communities in British Columbia to attract businesses that meet local needs, provide employment and improve the local economy.

Before registering with PNP BC, it is necessary to formally approve the community obtained as a result of a visit to the community in which they intend to create a new business.

Other requirements include:

  • at least 100,000 CAD in business investment;
  • minimum net worth of  300,000 CAD;
  • business and / or work experience of 3 years as an active business owner or more than 4 years as a senior manager for the past 5 years;
  • at least 51% ownership of the proposed business;
  • creating at least one job for a Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada.
  • BC PNP will hold an information session for the communities on December 6, 2018.
