MANITOBA INVITES 291 SKILLED WORKERS

Manitoba invited 291 qualified specialists to apply for a provincial nomination in its first round of 2018, including 155 candidates from the Express Entry pool. The Provincial Manitoba Program (MPNP) offered 119 applicants for the Skilled Worker in Manitoba Stream category to apply, with the candidate with the lowest rating scored 520 points.

Another 172 qualified specialists were invited to the Skilled Worker Overseas Stream. 17 Skilled Workers Overseas Stream and 155 candidates for the new Manitoba Express Entry Pathway program. . This was the first rally in which Manitoba used the Express Entry Pathway program, which was created as part of the overall restructuring of the MPNP in November 2017.

MPNP conducts drawings based on the Expression of Interest (EOI) system, in which potential candidates submit EOI to the province, and their profiles are assessed based on the responses provided. Candidates with the highest scores from the EOI pool receive an application for submission (LAA) for the provincial nomination from the government of Manitoba. Both qualified specialists in Manitoba and qualified specialists from abroad received LAA, and whose application for a provincial nomination is approved, can then apply to the federal government for permanent resident status. Candidates from the Express Entry category received a provincial nomination receive an additional 600 points on the CRS scale.

The Manitoba government announced several changes to the MPNP on November 15, 2017, some of which came into force immediately. It is expected that this year will continue other changes.
